              <text>&lt;span&gt;Sheila is the Associate Director of Public Projects division and Research Assistant Professor in the Department of History and Art History. She manages many current and legacy digital projects at RRCHNM. She completed her Ph.D. in U.S. history at Mason in 2010. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Bates College and Master's from the University of Notre Dame in American Studies. Prior to coming to RRCHNM in 2005, she worked as the Director of Education and Public Programs at the U.S. Navy Museum in Washington, DC for seven years. Her research interests include public history, digital history, how museums use the web and digital platforms, museums and material culture, popular collecting practices in the U.S., and late-19th and early-20th-century cultural history. She has co-authored essays on teaching the history of technology, doing oral history in the digital age, and on the challenges of online collecting projects. Additionally, two of her essays appear in edited collections published by the Smithsonian Institution Press. She has made several presentations on digital history, digital tools, online collecting and archiving, and postal history. Her dissertation, Stamping American Memory: Stamp Collecting in the U.S. 1880s-1930s, was awarded the 2010 Moroney Prize for Scholarship in Postal History. In 2012, she was awarded the University of Michigan Press-HASTAC Prize for Digital Humanities to create a new web project, Stamping American Memory.               <text>&lt;p&gt;Dr. Roger P. Mellen, Ph.D. is a tenured Associate Professor of Journalism at the&lt;a href="http://www.nmsu.edu/~jrnalism/"&gt;Department of Journalism and Mass Communications&lt;/a&gt; at&lt;a href="http://www.nmsu.edu/"&gt; New Mexico State University&lt;/a&gt; in &lt;a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&amp;amp;tab=wl"&gt;Las Cruces, New Mexico&lt;/a&gt;. He is responsible for teaching Video Production, Television Reporting, History of Mass Media, Mass Media Ethics, Radio &amp;amp; TV Scriptwriting and Performance, Mass Communication Law and other classes. With Mellen's broadcast news experience, he works with the students who produce News22 on the local public television station.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Mellen recently completed his doctoral work in the George Mason University History Department. His research focused on the historic origins of free press and colonial Virginia print culture. He wrote a book, &lt;em&gt;The Origins of a Free Press in Revolutionary Virginia: Creating a Culture of Political Dissent. &lt;/em&gt;His dissertation was, &lt;a href="http://web.nmsu.edu/~rpmellen/dissertation.html"&gt;"A Culture of Dissidence: The Emergence of Liberty of the Press in Pre-Revolutionary Virginia." &lt;p&gt;Before returning to school, Mellen was Visiting Assistant Professor in Journalism and Coordinator of the Electronic Journalism Minor at George Mason University. He came to GMU after 2 ½ years as an Assistant Professor at American University and more than 20 years as a professional journalist. More recently, Mellen was an adjunct instructor at the Philip Merrill College of Journalism, University of Maryland.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Mellen has worked in television news, online journalism and radio, including as: Senior Producer/Writer, WJLA-TV. Washington, DC; Assistant News Director, WHTM-TV, Harrisburg, PA; Newscast Producer, WCNC-TV, Charlotte, N;, Assignment Editor, WJBK-TV, Detroit; Newscast Producer/Assignment Editor, WKZO-TV (WWMT), Kalamazoo, MI; Newscast Producer, WVUE-TV, New Orleans; Tape Editor, Writer, Tape Operations Manager, Satellite News Channel, Stamford, CT; Tape Editor, Video Journalist, CNN, Atlanta; and Associate Producer (Reporter, Anchor, Photographer, Editor) WSKG-TV, Binghamton, NY. His work has won many awards, including Associated Press, UPI, and National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Regional Emmy) best newscast.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;His B.A. is in Broadcast Journalism from Hampshire College, his M.A. in Mass Communication from the University of Denver, his Ph.D. is in American History from George Mason University.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A few years ago, Mellen completed hiking the entire 2,150 miles of the Appalachian Trail in segments; a little each year. It took more than 30 years to complete!&lt;/p&gt;

              <text>Sharon Leon is the Director of Public Projects at the Center for History and New Media and Associate Professor in the History and Art History Department. Leon recieved her bachelors of arts degree in American Studies from Georgetown University in 1994, and her doctorate in American Studies from the Unversity of Minnesota in 2004. Her first book, A&lt;em&gt;n Image of God: Catholics and American Eugenics&lt;/em&gt; was published by the University of Chicago Press in 2013. She is currently doing research on Catholicism in the United States after Vatican II and working on a project on doing digital public history. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;At the Center for History and New Media, Leon oversees collaborations with library, museum, and archive partners from around the country, such as the Smithsonian Institution, the Minnesota Historical Society, and the American Social History Project at the City University of New York. She manages the Center's digital exhibit and archiving projects, as well as a research and tool development for public history, including Omeka and Scripto. Leon also writes and presents on using technology to improve the teaching and learning of historical thinking skills.</text>
